this is a body of work in progress… through constant research and response.
these short film studies correlate to a series of creative exchange conversations and readings with the artist Eamon O’Kane in the lockdowns of 2020.
folding worlds is a dual project. as an artist I am looking at the ecology of humans and the relationships we have with storytelling and mythology to understand the world we live in. these extended the knowledge and learning of those that have come before us, today with the integration of myth, science, and learned knowledge we can create new myths and folding worlds for our creative consciousness to use in understanding our vast and fluctuating world. The project and collaboration didn’t end at conversations and short films…
As an arts participation practitioner I wanted to develop an outcome that would enable those who engage with it to create their own stories and worlds. Helium Arts supported my journey with this idea and it allowed me to create a creators packet for use in hospital settings.
Commissioned to apply the concepts of the Folding Worlds and the outcomes of the conversations, these developed into a creative tool for use in out patient hospital spaces within the practice of their Health Hubs.
Through the Creative Health Hub Programmes in Limerick, I prototyped and explored designing and producing a pack for Helium, as a way of pivoting their work in the hospital during Covid, when/if the artist can’t be present for the children.
